The ABC Model of Behavior stands for the "Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence" model. This model uses three components to look at how environmental factors influence behavior. By examining each of these components, we can form a better idea of how to prevent and address off-task behavior challenges.
What is happening before the behavior
Influences actions
Could be triggers or a build-up of multiple incidents
The observable, measurable act
Thoughts or attitudes during the event
Any action or reaction that comes after the behavior
Helps decide whether that behavior is continued
